Most of these events are major "happenings" that involve the entire village or community.
These tournaments are often the largest event in their region and one can expect the "unexpected"! Whilst the football is the main attraction, it is the large crowds that provide the "thrills". Hundreds of hawkers provide for the thousands of spectators – many of them book their little gazebo next to the field for their "VIP customers".
If you are into celebrity spotting – then this is the place to be. From your Bafana current and ex players – to your musicians, television personalities and politicians. This is also a place where distant families meet, children constantly play and if you are single – this is where you will find loads of potential partners!
Its not all good for the usual quite restaurants, taverns and shebeens, who all suffer due to the huge popularity of these "festivals". By the way, if you are a food connoisseur, all you have to do is pop into one of these events and your tastebuds will be blown away with traditional African food.
Some of the events "travel" to different venues, prior to the big final day on Easter Monday. In Mpumalnaga’s Bushbuckridge region, the event will be hosted in Welvervien Grounds, Kildare Grounds, Masoyi Stadium, Shatale Ground – all highly populated villages deep in the rural areas – before their final in the newly revamped Thulamahashe Stadium.
The premier of Northern Cape is hosting a dinner on Friday evening as an opening function for the Cell C SAFA Sol Plaatje Easter Tournament which is being played in Kimberley. This tournament will be played at the Galeshowe Stadium, Kutlwanong Stadium, Bakgat Stadium before the finals being played at the De Beers Stadium.

An exciting Cell C Nike promotion will be held at all venues where there are even more fantastic prizes. There’s great deals to PORT or buy an IBOLA special with more fantastic prizes.
The winning teams of each tournament all stand a chance to win a total of 38 World Cup tickets – part of the large amount of tickets that Cell C have procured for the June spectacular.
These Cell C sponsored events all kickoff tomorrow (Friday) and end on Easter Monday. Check the website’s TOURNAMENT DETAILS for all the venues.
